Of loss and grief - Ning

The past few days seem to have dragged on.

The sudden death of Nian Ning, I'm sure most of you have read in the papers.

She was in the bus crash en route from Penang to KL, and it was later learned that a Honda Odyssey which could not brake in time rammed into the side-turned bus, the cause of which two victims were killed instantly.
She was one of them.

I guess the suddenness of it all jarred me. She had merely taken the wrong bus, chosen the wrong time, picked the wrong seat, appropriated the wrong driver.

We had plans that night, Wei's family and I were to meet her for dinner once she reached KL.

When Chung Lern called her at 2pm - the scheduled departure of the bus from Penang, I had thought, there were words left unsaid, excitement bottled up, all kept and reserved for the rendezvous that fateful evening. He had waited at the Pudu station, and had called home to request for us to reach Ning as there were no replies. Little did we know, she was already taken from us, robbed of her life and future by a despicable, incompetent driver who had 13 summonses in his record who apparently was sms-ing when the tragedy happened! Hell, he should be sentenced to life, the company shut down for allowing the task of transporting lives to such a contemptible driver!

He had said to appreciate what we have between us. But given a second shot at it, and to be repaid with such cruelty, my heart went out to him. As for the devastation of her family, I cant begin to imagine.

To him I'd like to say, be strong and hold on to your memories. (same goes to a friend whose father has passed away only 2 days after) Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, but love leaves a memory no one can steal.

I know words would not suffice in comforting your grief, but time heals and take console in knowing you will have your memories to last you a lifetime.

ning, may your soul be blessed. my thoughts are with you.

Eye On Malaysia

i'm stopping work this weeeeeekkk!!! *so ecstatic i'm skipping around hollering with abandon*

HAHA :D

i sound so lazy.XD like cannot even stand 1 month of work.T_T
hee. but i dont mind working la. just that the work is sooo repetitive can die :S

anyways, here are some pictures from our visit to eye on malaysia! (another thing on our to-do list - accomplished!) :)

see see the line of people there???! :( that was why we decided not to take the ride up and forgo the 'scenic view of KL'..

.

.

.

for a little camwhoring XD

hoho. we so power we emo-ed for 8 seconds.

apparently they've decided to keep the Eye on Malaysia as a permanent fixture for another tourist destination in KL (or is it only till the 31st of August 2008?)
as opposed to the original proposed plan of tearing everything down after Visit Malaysia year 2007 *rolls eyes* - another waste of taxpayers money, like the Golden Chicken in SS13 near Sunway which I remembered was demolished after only a few months of constructing it.

SAME GOES for the inactive, crumbling "child enrichment centre" in Sunway! which frankly gives me the impression of a jail (what with the high walls and all) or an insane asylum for psychiatric treatments or somewhat -_-ll i bet its gonna get demolished sooner or later.

another few millions down the drain. *express distaste*

oh well. last shot of us with the eye on malaysia in the background!

the blue illusion you see above our heads are actually advertisements projected onto a film of water, sprayed in a fan-like shape from the surface of the lake :)

******************************************************

An unexpected gift from a special someone! :D

*grins*

******************************************************

I WANT TO WATCH ATONEMENT AND SWEENEY TODD !!!!!

both movies' soundtracks are eerie.
very cool. :P

mei yiiiiii! and yang ching and bernieee!

LETS GO.

Sandakan Part II

Here are the rest of the pictures from my Sandakan trip!

After Puu Jih Shih temple, dad brought us to the English Tea House & Restaurant which is situated within the grounds of the historic Agnes Keith House Museum for tea :D

Here are some of the pictures :) enjoy!

the entrance to the English Tea House

their manicured lawns and gazebos overlooking the town and Sandakan Bay!

mouth-watering desserts and pastries!! :D
PS. i still think my wholemeal raisin scones are nicer than theirs (not pictured here). HOHO.

(L) brothers and I played English Croquet after tea! (we set our own rules. haha!)
(R) Dad. (I was imitating a certain someone who poses like that) :P

A part of Sandakan Harbour Square - Sabah's first integrated urban renewal development project jointly undertaken by Sara-Timur Sdn Bhd and ICSD Ventures Sdn Bhd

(L) we were thinking of ways to utilise the lightsticks during dinner :P
(R) flower arrangements to be placed at the lobby

the next day we went to Sepilok to see the orangutans! :)

Left the hotel at 830 in order to coincide with their feeding time which is at 10am

the walk into the orangutan rehabilitation centre.
i was afraid there are leeches XD

while waiting for our 'cousins'. haha!

waiting..

waiting...

waiting....

we waited for a full half hour. -_-ll

blame the crowd behind us who apparently doesnt know what is Silence or Senyap and obviously does not possess the intertextual knowledge as to what SHHHHHHHH!! means.

you can even see disappointment written all over.

XD

and then, the trees started rustling!

.

.

.

out came utan A, B, and C.

they were so intent on giving us our 5 bucks worth,

utan A paraded infront of us.                                                            utan B staged a circus act.

and utan C displayed himself.

and smilingly faced his privies at us.

and wee-ed.

-_-ll

so back we went to our bus, satisfied. :)

Next up is Crocodile Farm!! *mocks excitement*

ok la, it wasnt that bad. just that the crocs there are DEAD STILL. every single one of them doesnt blink. -_-ll I was expecting to at least see some action :P

His namecard reads: "My name is TAKO from Lahad Datu, I'm around 60 years old. I'm 17 feet long and I weigh 800 kg. Wild Life removed me to this place because I ate 4 residents in the wild. Now I eat only one chicken everyday. Thank you for visiting."

:S

they're so still and shiny they look plastic

heh. the peacock was cornering the peahen for 20 minutes! too bad she's more fascinated by us than him. :P

The launching of the hotel and the company's annual dinner was on that night! :)

YB Datuk Masidi Manjun - the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment of Sabah  (sixth from the left),  was present to officiate the launching.

Dad's the tallest one there! :)

Rooftop party with free flow of wine, hard liquors and cigars for the VIPs, press and the Directors' families (they play nice music too! :D)

Christmas carols and dance performances for the public;

and karaoke competition and a live band for the staffs

at 930 sharp the fireworks display started!

it was so so nice i think it's one of the best fireworks display I've ever seen *swoons* (definitely better than new year's eves' fireworks displays!)

the press/media photographers were sent out on 2 boats 45 minutes before the fireworks started. And all through the fireworks display you could see flashes of lights coming from the sea :D

heh. the purpose was to capture the fireworks with @ease boutique hotel and Sandakan Harbour Square at its background.

so you can imagine how extra long and extravagant the fireworks display are. :)

Dad could've arranged for Aaron to join the press in 1 of the boats! But too bad Aaron didnt know about it and dad was so busy he forgot to ask. -_-ll

slightly tired but blissfully happy :D

left in the morning the next day. last shot with our furry cousin!

gliding on cotton balls all the way back to KL :D

that's all for Sandakan! :)

Eye on Msia next! :D

nite ppl! *huggies drypers* - HEH! my term for hugs!
wei knows it :P

have a scorching Sunday! (cant find anything nice that starts with S to go with Sunday) -_-ll

oh welll, my brain needs rest :)

bye!

Sandakan Part I

finally a post on Sandakan!

went there before Christmas (that's how overdue i am in my posts T_T) for the official launching of @ease boutique hotel - wholly owned by dad's company Sara Timur Properties Sdn Bhd and managed by Value Hospitality; and also to attend Sara Timur's annual dinner which was made to coincide with the launching!

business affairs aside, we still managed to visit some of the places of interests in Sandakan :) Here are some of the pictures!

Executive suite for parents and I, deluxe for brothers XP  i think Sandakan was flocked with Sara Timur's staffs that weekend! what with 300+ of them flying in from Kuching and KL

(L) we found this remnants on the rooftop. HEH
(R) One of the logos on the wood boarding off the construction site. the figure reminds me of Casper the friendly ghost! XD
one who's so @ease he drooled. :P

On the first day, Dad borrowed a 4WD from one of the staffs in Sandakan.

And we went exploringg! :D :D

Stopped at Puu Jih Shih temple. Mum was saying that this temple must be rich! (or have some important ppl/good sponsors backing it) :P

Its the highest temple in Sandakan - located at the hilltop, surrounded by mountains and forests. Dubbed 'the temple in the sky', you get a panoramic view of Sandakan Bay from the temple!

One shot infront of the 2nd temple that houses the God Of Earth

The sky was super cloudy that day, after all it is the rainy season in Sabah. Thus the angry clouds you see in some pictures :(

the seaview from the temple!

3 candid pictures dad took of us!

blackout

our electricity got cut off the other day from renovation works and while I was washing up in the dark  with the burning red candle as my only source of light, an image of my future husband magically appeared in the mirror before me.

except that his eyes and nose were missing.

I guess I still needed to skin a red apple after all.

:)

felt a little bit like a Charmed one.
